SIX STAGES OF MANHOODA REFLECTIVE GUIDE

STAGE 01 / 06

Beloved Son

Loved before he achieves.

Identity begins with belonging: knowing he is prized, safe, and loved by the Father.

01

Overview

The preteen season is often marked by innocence, energy, and wonder. The world is a playground: sticks become spears, and imaginary dragons are slain.

A boy learns belonging through the love of a father and family. Safe in his father’s arms, he yearns to know that he is prized. As innocence encounters evil for the first time, his sense of sonship can be threatened.

02

The Enemy’s Attacks

  • Separating him from the Father and undermining his sense of belonging.
  • Distorting his understanding of a Heavenly Father and a healthy family.
  • Threatening the assurance that he is loved and has a place.

03

The Path Toward Growth

The heart of the boy can be renewed at any age. We can come to know that we are prized and have a place in our Father’s heart that no one and nothing else can rival.

Growth begins by receiving that love in deeply personal ways. With God and trustworthy men, we can revisit places where belonging was wounded and learn again to live as beloved sons.

04

Reflection Questions

Take time with these. Consider them in prayer, in a journal, or in conversation with a trusted man.

  1. Where did I learn that I was loved—and where did I begin to doubt it?
  2. How does my experience of my earthly father shape the way I relate to God?
  3. What would change if I lived this week from the assurance that I am already prized?

Each new stage incorporates the earlier ones. These questions invite reflection wherever you are in life; they are not a measure of rank or maturity.
